Management vs. Leadership…There is a Difference
Being an effective leader is not about managing tasks—it’s about leading people.
Historically, organizations have fueled their leadership pipeline by promoting top performers.
Those top performers are often selected because of their work ethic, technical skills, or maybe even their business acumen.
Here’s the problem with this approach:
Managers need more than a team of direct reports to hit the ground running, and few intuitively possess the critical skills needed to be successful in their role.
As a result, most managers keep doing what they’ve been doing and hope for the best.
More than any other factor, it's the manager that influences team engagement and performance.
Imagine what you and your organization can achieve when you develop more effective leaders and build a strong talent pipeline.

Winner of Leadership Excellence Awards
A few years ago, Wendy partnered with Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) to fully customize a new program called Breakthrough Leadership.
The Breakthrough Leadership program focuses on helping participants become more effective in their current roles and building leadership bench strength.
With almost 150 participants completing the program in the first year, engagement levels among participants, their managers, program sponsors, and the executive leadership team were so high, HBP decided to write a client success story.
At the end of the second year, it won its first award.
At the end of the third year, the program won awards in three categories:
-
#1 Best Sales Leadership Program
-
#3 Best Experienced/Senior Leader Program
-
#5 Best Global/International Leadership Program
As a result of her work with HBP, in 2017, Wendy was selected to become an inaugural member of Marshall Goldsmith’s 100 Coaches. This program is dedicated to advancing the practice of coaching and leadership development throughout the world.
